As much as I am a fan of finger foods and everyone eating the same I have done purees in the past as well. Purees can be hard work though! Making batches, storing/freezing them, defrosting them, heating them then serving them… WOAH dishes!!! So anything that can save time or dish washing is welcome in my house!
Let me introduce you to Nom Nom Kids. If you follow me on social media you will have seen me using these pouches and they featured in our Insta Wean Team Smoothie week this week too. First thing I can say is I wish I had discovered these sooner! Like me, Suzanne (the lovely lady behind Nom Nom Kids) loved using pouches for convenience or those fussy phases our little ones can go through but would have rather made her own puree and been able to easily reuse a pouch instead of throwing so many away.
As these are freezer and dishwasher safe you are able to store your puree in the pouch as well as serve it without any real need for a spoon or a bowl, like I said less dishes. Also if you are going down the baby led weaning route these can make those runnier foods a lot easier to serve whilst on the go or at regular mealtimes. Abel has his porridge in one of these every night and loves it!
Obviously now Abel is 19 months we don’t give him purees anymore but these are amazing for smoothies, yoghurt, porridge, wheatabix, soup and basically anything else runny. They even have a bit on them to write info for babysitters or daycare like your childs name, what is in it, if it needs heated or chilled and a note to not throw it out!
A few of my favourite things about the pouches are…
- They can be reused so many times and save waste.
- Freezer/dishwasher safe.
- BPA, PVC and phthalate free.
- Attractive design for kids and easy to use.
- You don’t need any type of “filling station” like other pouches do.
- Save money! One of these pouches costs the same as 2 or 3 shop bought pouches.
These really are one of my favourite weaning products so far, I would recommend them to any new parent. I always try to think of any downside there be to a product when reviewing but I’ve yet to come across anything offputting with these, maybe that they don’t last foreeeever but I’ve got a few that have been on the go every day for about 2 months and they are still great! Also the odd chunk can get stuck in the spout but that could happen with any pouch and is easily sorted by making sure whatever you put in isn’t too lumpy or thick.
[I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample to try out and review. The opinions are completely my own and are 100% honest.]
